A Day at
Tails & Trails

At Tails & Trails we provide a structured, yet flexible schedule for our guests. Every day is different, but our boarders and daycare dogs know what to expect. 

 

To start off our day, we head outside first thing in the morning in the same groups and order as the previous day. After lots of sniffing, bathroom time, and even a little play, we head back in for breakfast.

 

After breakfast, we have three big activities between 9 am and 4 pm. This can involve a variety of walks, supervised outdoor playtime (with or without other canine friends), and extra attention time with staff. We customize these activities based on each individual dog's needs and preferences (along with their owners input)! We know every dog is different and we try our best to make their stay a positive one.

 

Our walks are more of an activity/adventure than a structured walk; we gear up one to three dogs on flexi leashes and head out to the fields to our back, forested trail(s), where the dogs can sniff, zig and zag, and do some business.  We can accommodate if your dog requires a harness for walks as well. Walks are an add-on activity from our A La Carte Menu which are optional to be added to your pet(s) boarding stay.

 

Outdoor time takes place in carefully organized groups, chosen based on size, temperament, play/behavior style and preferences. Each dog is thoroughly placed in groups we think is best suited for them. We place dogs accordingly; examples are small dogs are grouped together, as are more playful, active dogs and as well as our more independent, people-oriented dogs who will go together. If you have a dog that prefers not to socialize with other dogs that's okay too! We do have limited space for these dogs but we can accommodate some one on one outdoor time with staff so that they aren't bothered by the presence of other canines. Our activity supervisors provide oversight, guidance and inspiration with toys, treats, and fun games, as well as lots of cuddles. 

 

We also provide some added services to make your pet(s) stay more unique! We offer a variety of Bundle packages or add-on activities to enhance your pet(s) stay. Some of our options that are most popular with our clients are as the following; Our extra attention time, this may take place outside or inside. We organize this special time to ensure each dog can spend some quality time with staff either individually or in a small group. * Frozen Stuffed Kongs – Filled with peanut butter, apple sauce, pumpkin or rice, with biscuits and liver treats or modified for food sensitivities stuffed inside!

  * Treat Puzzles And Enrichment Toys –  Toy puzzles and snuffle balls filled with tasty treats (or your dog’s own kibble if they have allergies)  made to be rolled, nosed, and pawed at for rewards. Keep your pet(s) entertained and enlightened with rewards and brain games!

  * Tricks And Treats Time – Sit, lay down, give paw, stay , if your dog loves to show off their tricks this is the game! With lots of treats and praises for positive reinforcement. Who knows your pet(s) might go home with a new trick up their sleeve!

  * Cuddle Time – Being still and reaching out to provide massage, quiet touch, and lots of loving attention. Staff members are here for your pet(s) giving them added attention and some much appreciated love! Whatever they want they can have during this time; want some snuggles, you got. Want some play time, you can have it too. Want some relaxing pets and message, say no more! We got you!

  * Fetch Time – For dogs who just want to play ball and run around, we can satisfy those urges in a safe, controlled environment. Got lots of energy? This is a one on one activity with staff where you dog(s) can take some toys outside, let loose and enjoy some time in the countryside with our activity coordinators.

  * Small Group Play – Perfect for a social butterfly! Finding like-minded playmates for wrestling, chasing, and just hanging out. Our staff carefully picks out which pet(s) get along with each other and allow them to have some more fun together!

  *Extra Walk Time – Exploratory, adventure walks in one of our off-trail areas. One walk is not enough? Add another! Walks are an amazing form of exercise for our pets, with our trails around the property there is always something new to smell!

( Please be advised that each activity/Bundle has an additional fee to the boarding price and that a staff member may change the activity you selected to better suit your pet!)

Who’s up for another round of outdoor play? In the afternoon we do another round of groups; these are the same groups we created for the morning so everyone knows everyone and tends to be more comfortable with their surroundings. This is our last big playtime of the day to help burn off any extra energy from the dogs and one more run around before we settle for the night and get some dinner!

 

After  dinner there is one more outing before bedtime, much like our first outing of the day; with lots of sniffing, bathroom time, and even a little play, it's time to head back in for bed. At bedtime, we make sure each guest has appropriate bedding, fresh water, and a special treat. All tucked in and ready for another fun filled day tomorrow!
